Man
has been created in dimensions proportioned in an ideal manner. This
proportionality, this balance is unique in man and it is this which raises man
above all other creatures.
And
in another place the Holy Quran says
We
offered the trust to the heavens and the Earth, and the mountains but they
refused to carry it and were afraid of it. But man bore it. Surely he is
self-sacrificing, devoted.
That
is we offrerd a trust, the trust of love and devotion to God of facing up to
trials for His sake and yet to remain steadfast in submission. We offered the
trust to angels in heavens, and to many orders of creation in the earth, to
mountains, apparently mighty. Every one in turn refused to carry the trust.
They shied away at the responsibility. But man agreed. Why ? Because of two
qualities , one , he is capable of denying and oppressing his own self if
necessary for the sake of God, and two, he can raise the quality of his love of
God to a point at which everything other than God is forgotten, forgotten
utterly. (33:73)
God
says in another place:
When
thy lord said to the angels, See I am creating a mortal out of clay. When I
have proportioned him, and breathed My spirit in to him , fall you down
prostrating before him The angels prostrated all together but not Iblis. (38:
72-75)
That
is call to mind the time when thy Lord (of whom thou art the most perfect
manifestation) said to the angels : See I am going to create a man out of clay.
So when I have ceated him in the fairest form and breathed in him of My spirit,
fall you down prostrating before him; that is, serve him most humbly and bow
down before him in humble submission and thus prostrate before him. All the
angels prostrated before the perfect man. But Iblis did not. He proved unequal
to this blessing. (38: 72-75).
