BASHA VALLEY

The Basha Valley in Shigar, offers good attractive option to more frequently areas of Baltistan. The local houses have more traditional Balti style as compare to the developed areas with modern concrete structure. The valley is closed by the huge Chhogo Lungma Glacier with several possibilities for interesting trekking routes with Haramosh La and Stak La cooects Basha Valley with Tormik and Stak Valley respectively.

ASKOLE

Askole is a small village located in the farthest end of Shigar and at the head of Braldo Valley. Askole is the gateway to the most of the important peaks of Karakuram, including four of the Fourteen world’s highest peaks.

GULABPUR

Gulabpur is a village of tourist attraction with reference to Amacha Glacier and green postures situated at a distance of 30 kms from Shigar. A vast area of Gulabpur is covered with seabuckthorn as well. The historical significant Khanqah of Gulabpur is more than 300 years old which has been rehabilitated by AKCSP and recognized by UNESCO.

SEASON HIGHLIGHTS

Festival, Rituals and Seasonal Occasions

The people of Baltistan celebrate many festival other than the religious rituals and most of the festivals related to seasonal changes as mentioned below.

March to May:

Spring season with normal temperature. Jashn e Nouroze is celebrated on 21^st March every year. Different kinds of games are conducted particularly Polo is played on the occasion. The coloured eggs are exchanged by children each other. Apricot flowers blossom season starts from 1^st week of March.

June to August:

Summer with best tourist season. Indepence Day of 14^th August is celebrated with zeal and zest. Games are played on the occasion while Polo is the special verity. Cherry is to be ripe after 15^th June while apricot season begins from 15^th July. Asad Ashura is celebrated with religious fervour like Muharram in the end of July.

Septmber to November:

Autumn season with normal temperature. October is the season of apple ripping. Beautiful autumn scenes can be seen with yellow and red leaves of the trees.

December to February:

Very cold winter season with snow falling. The ancient festival of illumination “Mae Phang” is celibrated on 21^st December.
